Xiaomi’s RedmiBook might finally be making its way to India. A trademark listing for RedmiBook has been spotted on the Intellectual Property India website, an agency for patents and trademarks under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. While this isn’t conclusive evidence, it’s a pretty good indicator that Redmi laptops might make it to India.
RedmiBook, for the uninitiated, is Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi’s foray into the laptops segment. Similar to the characteristics of Redmi’s smartphones, the laptops offer great value-for-money. The first Redmi branded laptop, the RedmiBook 14, was unveiled earlier in May this year in China.
But throughout 2019, Redmi launched a handful of other variants too. The latest to come from Redmi’s stable was the RedmiBook 13 that launched alongside the much-awaited Redmi K30 series in China last month. The RedmiBook 13 is a Windows laptop powered by 10th Gen Intel Core processors and with support for up to 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD, and 2GB NVIDIA MX250 graphics.
Other notable features of the RedmiBook 13 include Harman speakers with DTS support. Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a 65W charging adaptor that can deliver 50% charge in 35 minutes. The RedmiBook 13 retails for CNY 4,499 (INR 45,000) and CNY 5,199 (INR 52,000) for the Intel Core i5 variant and the Intel Core i7 variant respectively.
Although ASUS has been making strides and has offered some very respectable choices in the budget segment, the participation of Redmi will only spice things up in the budget laptop segment.
Apart from the RedmiBook, Xiaomi & Redmi are expected to release a couple of other devices too. While Xiaomi had earlier confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 is coming to India, the recently-unveiled Redmi K30 is also expected to make its way to the Indian market very soon.
